Alita: Battle Angel manga (novel) series is authored by “mangaka”, Yukito Kishiro, born in Tokyo, in 1967. The original manga series consists of 60 chapters; which you can take a look at it here.

In the trailer below, I was reassured to see that Alita: Battle Angel movie remains faithful to the original manga series storyline. The apocalyptic cyberpunk environment, the main characters as well as villains stick to the novel.
